As streams are, power is; those blest flowers that dwell At the rough stream's calm head, thrive and do well, But having left their roots, and themselves given To the stream's tyrannous rage, alas, are driven Through mills, and rocks, and woods, and at last, almost Consum'd in going, in the sea are lost. So perish souls, which more choose men's unjust Power from God claim'd, than God himself to trust. -John Donne, Satire III I picked up a fresh copy of the Book of Mormon today. Its purity and sincerity, hiding behind the new-book smell and economical printing, caught me off guard. Probably there exists no book carrying such an emotional current, charging both those that strive to adhere to its principles and those that point fingers or fight against it. Me, I felt like I agreed with Mr. Donne, even if I am pulling him out of context against his will. If the Book truly is what it claims to be, it is the most pure source of revealed knowledge on Earth, the most unadulterated divine text extant. And believing that to be the case no man or woman can stand in its place to help me better understand the true nature of God. The Book radiates with knowledge. This is only found by those that are humbly looking for it, and that is the key.

1. After leaving a thermos full of vegetable puree on the counter (and forgetting about it for about 4 months), don't try to just pop it right back open again to dump it into the sink nonchalantly. It will proceed to rocket off and bounce against the opposing wall in an explosion of terribly sickening, spicy smelling orange froth of foulness and cover all available kitchen surfaces. You will have to engage in an arduous cleaning process with a lost appetite. 2. Buying a dishwasher is good. 3. When battling with your spouse, make sure you have two hands; otherwise she will stuff bubbles down your throat. 4. Finally, to make yourself feel better, you can do cool light tricks with steam.
